MEET OUR FOUNDER, MADIE Gruhn
Madie Gruhn is a nationally recognized choreographer, dance educator, and owner of Madie G Choreography, specializing in Pom, Gameday, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Contemporary, and college/professional dance preparation. With more than a decade of dance experience and a background competing at both the state and Division IA collegiate levels, Madie brings a fresh, competitive perspective to the dance team industry.
Madie works with high school, all-star, studio, and collegiate programs across the country, creating choreography designed specifically around each team’s strengths, identity, and competitive goals. Her work has earned state championships, national top-five and top-ten finishes, category wins, overall awards, and special recognition for artistry and entertainment at competitions across multiple circuits.
Most recently, Madie’s choreography has continued to make an impact throughout the 2025–2026 competitive seasons. Her work with Southwestern Community College earned 3rd place nationally in Community College Jazz, following a historic 3rd-place finish at the Iowa State Dance Championships—the program’s first placement in Community College Jazz. Her choreography for Broken Arrow JV earned 6th in the nation in Pom, while a Gameday routine she helped choreograph earned 5th nationally at Dance Team Union Nationals.
Madie has also choreographed multiple championship-winning Pom routines, including back-to-back-to-back WSDDCA JV Pom State Championships, Skyline High School. Beyond Washington, her choreography for Yankton Dance Team earned 2nd place in AA Competitive Pom at the South Dakota State competition, and the Bay Area Bolts earned 4th place in Pom at the 2026 USA Super Nationals after bringing the routine to the floor in only seven practices.
Her studio choreography has seen similar success. Madie’s competitive Junior Hip-Hop choreography has earned multiple category wins and top-ten overall finishes, including a 1st Overall finish and Regional Winner recognition as the highest-scoring routine of the weekend, along with a Golden Ticket invitation to the World Dance Championships. Her routines have also been recognized with special honors including Artistry Awards, Entertainment Awards, Most Entertaining/PAC ATTACK recognition, and Swagger Squad awards across multiple competitions.
Before becoming a choreographer and educator, Madie spent four seasons competing for the University of Washington Dance Team, serving as captain during her senior season. She competed at the UDA College National Dance Team Championship across Division IA Jazz, Pom, Hip Hop, Gameday, and Combined Dance & Cheer Gameday. In 2023, Madie helped UW advance to the Division IA Jazz Finals for the first time in program history, and in 2024, the program placed 6th in the nation in Division IA Combined Gameday.
Madie’s competitive roots began in Washington, where she helped lead the Capital Cougarettes to the 2019 WIAA 3A Pom State Championship. She later competed with Westside Select All-Star Pom, placing 3rd nationally at the Varsity All-American Championships. Individually, Madie was named Inside Dance Magazine All-American Dancer of the Year in both 2018 and 2019 and was nominated for the Thurston County Girls Sports Star of the Year in 2019.
Today, Madie continues to grow Madie G Choreography while teaching at Studio West Dance Academy and traveling to work with dance teams and athletes. In addition to competitive choreography, she offers masterclasses, technique and performance training, routine cleaning, and individualized preparation for dancers pursuing collegiate and professional dance opportunities.
At the heart of Madie’s work is her passion for creating routines that dancers love performing as much as audiences love watching. Her choreography combines musicality, precision, creativity, visual impact, and performance quality to create routines that feel unique to each team while remaining competitive at the highest level.
